Bradley-Cleveland fire service task force to begin its work Monday

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — A nine-member task force formed to look into merging the Cleveland Fire Department, Bradley County Emergency Medical Service and the County Fire and Rescue Department will hold its organizational meeting next Monday.

The Cleveland City Council on Monday approved a resolution previously OK’d by the Bradley County Commission.

Mayor Tom Rowland said the group will make recommendations to the City Council and the County Commission that may or may not include a merger.

Councilman Richard Banks said he had no problems with a county proposal to add four people, rank-and-file members of the affected departments.

“I think any input is important,” Banks said.
