Owing anyone a lot of money is painful. “[T]he borrower is servant to the lender,” the Bible warns.
But what do you think about our nation being deeply in debt to, of all countries, Communist China? China holds more than a trillion dollars of U.S. Treasury securities!
You may say, “Well, that’s Red China’s bad luck, and it has to face the risk.” But we certainly will not default on that debt and leave the Chinese holding an empty bag. And meanwhile, we’re paying a Communist government enormous interest on our debt.
But aside from the money, how do you like the idea of having the United States deeply indebted to a totalitarian regime?
If we are not concerned just on economic principle that we owe so much, to anyone, we should be concerned on general principle that we, the people of the United States of America, are heavily financially obligated to a government that oppresses its own people and denies them their rights.
