The boys in pink looked dapper Friday night at AT&T Field, but the Chattanooga Lookouts couldn’t deliver in a 4-3 loss to the Jackson Generals.
Twice the Lookouts had the bases loaded with nobody out, but the two prime take-command situations yielded just one run. The Lookouts went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
“Obviously when you have the bases loaded and nobody out, you want to get more than one run,” said first baseman Scott Van Slyke, who went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
In front of a crowd of 3,853, the Lookouts (20-14) donned pink-sleeved jerseys – worn to support breast cancer awareness. They took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Brian Cavazos-Galvez singled to left, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on an RBI single by Griff Erickson.
In the third, the Lookouts loaded the bases with nobody out. Van Slyke drove in a run with a single to make it 2-0 before Jackson’s Steven Hensley struck out the next three batters to escape the jam.
