2 new elements officially added to periodic table

NEW YORK – Remember the periodic table from high school chemistry? It just got a little bigger.

An international committee of chemists and physicists has added two new elements, numbers 114 and 116.

The elements don’t have official names yet. They exist for less than a second before they decay.

Scientists from California and Russia who found the elements did their experiments in 2004 and 2006.

On average, new elements have been added about once every 2 and a half years.
