Q with a view

Folks hungry for barbecue Sunday can have their meal with a waterfront view.

The Red Fez Shrine Club will be serving up plates with a choice of pulled pork or beef, with sides of coleslaw and baked beans. A drink is included in the $7 price for those who eat on-site. Desserts, which typically include an assortment of homemade cakes, pies, cookies and ice cream, are an extra $1.

This is the 54th year for the club’s barbecue at Opossum Creek in Soddy-Daisy. Proceeds go to upkeep of the club property and to the Alhambra Shrine’s transportation fund to take patients to Shriners hospitals in Lexington, Ky., and Cincinnati.

Serving hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can eat in or carry out, and they can arrive by car or boat.

The street address is 1503 Lee Pike (from Highway 27, turn east on Highwater Road, then right on Old Dayton Pike and left on Lee Pike).
