The feral-camel ‘menace’

Well, now we’ve seen – or at least read – everything.

The government of Australia has determined that the country’s 1.2 million wild camels are an environmental threat. It seems they belch methane, a “greenhouse gas,” in great quantities. In fact, six camels are supposedly the equivalent of one automobile in terms of their effect on “global warming.”

Australia’s proposed solution to this problem is not likely to be popular with animal rights activists. The government there is considering making the killing of camels an act that officially counts as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The plan would let sharpshooters earn money by slaughtering camels.

We’re not joking. Australia actually wants to start killing off camels to fight global warming.
