Who’s next in Wisconsin?
It’s a shame that you continually misinform the general public in your articles but, you did it again Sunday (in a column on Page F2). As always, you failed to give the whole story in your attempt to discredit the unions and President Barack Obama.
One fact you omitted concerned fundamentalist Gov. Walker of Wisconsin. He eliminated taxes on almost the entire corporate industry in Wisconsin. That’s correct: 83 percent of corporations do not pay taxes in Wisconsin. This is Walker’s payback to the corporations that donated money to get him elected, and now he’s paying them off.
The second fact you left out is when Walker took office, the state of Wisconsin had a surplus budget – surprise! You’re a right-winger, and facts are just like big lies, acceptable.
So, break the unions, which have agreed to every demand Walker has made except giving up bargaining rights. He’s going to fire them, call in his police, arrest teachers in their homes, or on the streets, wherever he can hunt them down.
I believe this is called a police state. My question to you, as it was asked in Germany in 1936: “Who’s next”?

Not all whites acted badly
I thank Linda Talley of Hixson for her wonderful letter “Many Heroes in Black History” on front of the perspective section Feb. 20.
As a white child of the ’50s, I have vivid memories of “colored” and “white” signs over restrooms and water fountains but was too young to understand the issues involved.
As a teen in the ’60s I have memories of race riots and the first segregated school experiment in my hometown of Tampa, Fla.
My high school had the first black student, and he was peacefully accepted.
As a young bride, I learned of the death of M.L. King Jr. and remember the exact time and place, in the same way I will remember the death of JFK.
I’m still moved by the courage of Rosa Parks.
My mother taught my sister and me to never mistreat anyone. I cannot recall hearing any negative talk about anyone in our home regardless of race.
At age 64, I observe attitudes of the younger generations who only know some historical facts they’ve been taught and wonder if any of them truly realize not all white people acted like idiots during this time in history. I thank you for emphasizing this fact.
