Call for Kongs answered

When Jill Morgan read that the Humane Educational Society was seeking donations to provide Kong chew toys to more than 300 dogs housed at its facilities, she did something about it.

A self-proclaimed animal lover, Morgan assembled about 215 toys to deliver to the Humane Educational Society. The collection included 25 Kong toys suitable for 10- to 35- pound dogs and a variety of rope toys designed for heavy chewers.

Morgan is owner of Candy Scoop Store, a Web-based seller of candy buffet utensils. She acquired the toys through Dollar Days, one of her company’s connections that distributes overstock goods with slight manufacturing defects.

When she discovered Dollar Days had a stockpile of dog toys on site, Morgan approached company officials and was encouraged by their enthusiastic response.

“There was not an iota of hesitation on their part, which was very nice and saved about $50 in shipping and handling,” she said. “I thought that was very gracious of their company to do that.”
