CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Collegedale Academy senior Patrick O’Brien loves playing doubles in tennis.
He also loves winning.
Monday, on the first day of the District 5-A/AA individual tournament at Lee University, he and partner Jordan Evans breezed past McMinn Central’s Hunter Sutherland and Nathan Reed, 6-0, 6-0, putting the top seeds a win away from the region tournament.
The Collegedale duo will face Boyd-Buchanan’s Thomas Fairchild and Kyle Thomas today. Singles semifinals start at 9 a.m.
“It’s fun because you’re able to work on the chemistry with your teammate,” O’Brien said. “I thought we played pretty well; we did win in straight sets, but we just have to keep it going. We’re going to have a couple of tough matches tomorrow.”
