Off the Beaten Path

Get your fill of high-end pampering, relaxing mountain views and outdoor activities to satisfy even the most avid outdoorsman at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. This retreat, located close to Young Harris, Ga., boasts a variety of activities ranging from a luxurious Cherokee-inspired spa designed to reflect the spirit of the people to fishing in streams or ponds.

“We provide a rustic elegance at Brasstown,” says Charles Burton, general manager. “The property is much like a land-based cruise ship; once you arrive you no longer need a car. Return visits are driven primarily by the interactions with our staff.”

Some of the amenities offered to guests at the resort are the top-ranked golfing, horse stables and Equani (Cherokee for “ridge”) spa. Each offers aspects that make the resort stand out from the standard mountain getaway.

Golf Digest and Leading Gold Course of America have ranked the golf experience at Brasstown as one of the best in Georgia. The course is encased by mountains and rolls through wildlife preserves, ponds and streams. The stables opened in June 2006 and offer a trail-riding option, making the full-service resort the only one of its kind in North Georgia.

The Equani Spa is unique in the sense that it incorporates the Cherokee spirit into its offerings. Along with body treatments, facials and massages, rituals native to the Cherokee are offered to stimulate and refresh the mind and body.
