Matt Magill of the Chattanooga LookoutsScott Elbert was the first Chattanooga Lookouts player promoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers when their partnership began in the 2009 season.
The left-handed relief pitcher was back at AT&T Field on Tuesday night on a rehab assignment. Elbert faced two batters in the eighth inning, striking out both, to help preserve Matt Magill’s stellar start as the Lookouts topped Jacksonville 4-1.
In 39 games with the Dodgers this season, the 27-year-old Elbert has a 2.45 earned run average. He has been out with an elbow injury since last pitching July 25 in St. Louis.
Elbert first played for Los Angeles in 2008, when he was promoted from Jacksonville, and made 12 appearances with the Lookouts in ’09 before being called up again.
Magill already has been the Southern League pitcher of the week three times this season and made a bid for a fourth honor by allowing two hits in seven scoreless innings. He struck out 11 batters and walked one.
