Broken wrist sidelines Collins
Bledsoe County sophomore Nathaniel Collins had surgery Thursday to repair a broken wrist suffered in a 4-wheeling accident during Thanksgiving break.
Basketball coach Mark Cagle said there was ligament damage on both sides of Collins’ wrist and the surgery included inserting a screw and four pins. His return to the court is highly unlikely this season.
“It would take a miracle,” Cagle said. “The pins won’t come out until mid-January, and he’ll have to have therapy when they do come out.”
With the loss of the 6-foot-6 Collins, the Warriors will lean on Dylan Frechette, Chad Cagle and Connor Boynton to step up production.
Copeland tops 1,000
Bradley Central junior Brooke Copeland topped the 1,000-point mark in the Bearettes’ District 5-AAA victory over Cleveland last week, and she was honored before the Soddy-Daisy game on Dec. 4.
