Some Chattanooga City Council members want to open satellite early voting sites for the March 2013 elections but the elections administrator is warning them about increased costs.

Peter Murphy, chairman of the Legal and Legislative Committee, said added cost is inconsequential.

“Three or four thousand was to do two satellites,” he said.

The City Council is expected to vote next week on whether to ask the Hamilton County Election Commission to open early voting sites. Those sites have not yet been determined, but four years ago the Hamilton County Election Commission office, Northgate Mall and Brainerd Recreation Center served as early voting sites.
