The world premiere of “The Ants,” an original production by teacher/playwright John Holleman, will be presented this weekend by the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School Players.
This original play was conceived by Holleman based on his research into the Pulitzer Prize-winning work on ants by naturalists E.O. Wilson and Bert Hölldobler. With their blessing, Holleman has taken the most fascinating aspects of the species and, with the hard work and talents of 37 students, has created an inventive creative movement, music, poetic and humorous event, according to producers.
Performing arts coordinator Robie Jackson calls the production “the most inspired collaborative piece of theater that the school has created to date.”
The show is appropriate for all ages. Tickets will be sold at the door.
