Alabama man given 15 years for fatal Christmas Day shooting

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - A Huntsville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to a Christmas Day 2007 shooting that left one man dead inside a convenience store.

The Huntsville Times reports that Julius Cortez Cawthorn pleaded guilty last week to a manslaughter charge in the shooting death of 26-year-old Latransezon "Dinky" Malloy as he emerged from the gas station's bathroom. Prosecutors said there had been an ongoing squabble between the two men that escalated.

Madison County Circuit Judge Ruth Ann Hall sentenced Cawthorn.
