Whitfield County officials will hold the first meeting of Whitfield Community Volunteers Active in Disasters at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dalton First United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 500 S. Thornton.

Faith-based organizations, private businesses and interested individuals are invited to the meeting “to let us know what your organization can do or what your skill sets are, that would help our county recover after a disaster,” Claude Craig, director of the Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency, said in a news release.

Officials said group members will volunteer their time and services during times of disaster, whether manmade or natural, and would help primarily in the recovery efforts afterwards.
