Signal Mountain High School senior Callie Hildebrand is among 11 local volleyball players recently chosen for the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State team.
“Since I didn’t go to State, [my selection] was a little surprising,” said Hildebrand, explaining this is when players typically get noticed.
The outside-hitter said this is the third straight year she has been selected for the team.
She said she has been playing volleyball since the sixth grade, and considers it to be her favorite sport over others she has tried such as basketball and soccer.
“I like the fast pace,” said Hildebrand, whose agility, quick reflexes and teamwork set her apart on the court.
She plans to continue her volleyball career in college, as she has been awarded a full athletic scholarship to Gardner-Webb University in Rocky Springs, N.C.
