JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Griffin Thomas kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired Saturday to life No. 24 Jacksonville State to a 27-24 win over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Saturday at JSU Stadium.

Mocs redshirt freshman quarterback Jacob Huesman had led UTC on a game-tying drive that led to a 16-yard touchdown pass to Ron Moore with 37 seconds left in the game. Needing a 2-point conversion to tie the game, UTC called timeout and called for a Keon Williams run - and Williams was able to fight his way into the end zone.

A 34-yard kickoff return by Gabriel Chambers gave the Gamecocks (1-1) life and the UTC (0-2) defense wasn't able to keep Jacksonville State from getting into Thomas' range.
