CLANTON, Ala. – Forecasters say more rain is headed toward Alabama, prompting concerns about flooding.
More than an inch of rain already has fallen in parts of central Alabama, and forecasters say as much as 2 inches more of rain is possible in cities including Birmingham, Anniston and Tuscaloosa.
The National Weather Service says that could cause flooding in areas.
Much of central and south Alabama is under a flash flood watch through this afternoon. And areas near rivers are still under flood warnings because of the heavy rainfall last week.
Forecasters say temperatures will turn sharply colder after the rain passes, with temperatures below freezing forecast in north Alabama early Wednesday.
