Staff Report

If art is on your holiday gift-giving list, two big events in the region this weekend could help you check off a few purchases. From Chattanooga, you can head west toward Monteagle and Sewanee, Tenn., for the Holiday Studio Tour or south into Calhoun and Ellijay for the North Georgia Art Ramble. Both are self-guided.

> Holiday Studio Tour: This 19th annual event is presented by the artists of Tennessee Craft – Southeast (formerly TACA and Craft Artists of Southern Tennessee).

More than 30 artists will be showing their work at studios, galleries and other venues in the two communities. And St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Gallery, 290 Quintard Road in Sewanee, will have an exhibition of work from tour participants, chapter members and SAS faculty and staff. Most works in the exhibition will be for sale as well. Mediums include drawing, painting, ceramics, pottery, sculpture, glass, wood, cast bronze, metalwork, jewelry, fiber and handmade books.

Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 (all times Central).

Bright yellow signs will mark the tour route, and maps will be available at all tour locations. Light refreshments will be served at many of the tour stops. For more information, visit tennesseecraft.org/events/chapter-exhibitions. Or email Claire Reishman at creishman@gmail.com.

> North Georgia Art Ramble: This tour covers a wide swath of North Georgia and multiple studios, galleries and arts centers.

Setting up special events are Gilmer Arts, 207 Dalton St. in Ellijay, which will have works by more than 30 members on display, as well as a Christmas shop, and Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St. in Calhoun, which is featuring its Festival of Trees & Mistletoe Market.

Individual participants include glass artist Jo Davis, 589 Highland Crossings in Ellijay, clay artist Deborah Macknight, 133 Wrights Hollow Road in Calhoun, and Jae Holstein, 589 Highland Crossings in Ellijay, who creates pine needle basketry. Ellijay artist Sheryl Holstein of Mountain Oak Pottery will be showing her pieces at Elly Hobgood’s home studio in Canton.

Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-7. Yellow and black NGAR signs will be posted at cross streets near each location.
