An inmate at the Hamilton County Jail attempted suicide today in his cell on the fourth floor.
Officers and medical personnel arrived to his cell, after receiving a report that suicide was being attempted, and found the inmate unresponsive, according to Denise Short, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department.
Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services responded to the jail and transported the inmate to a local hospital, where he currently is listed in serious condition, Short said.
The family of the inmate has been notified, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal and Internal Affairs Investigators will conduct a full investigation.
