‘ Project: Sleep Inn

‘ Location: Highway 27, near McDonald’s

‘ Owner: Dennis VanMeter

‘ Contractor: RBA Construction, Inc.

‘ Size: Around 21,000 square feet, 50-plus rooms

‘ Engineer: AD Engineering Services, Inc.

‘ History: The new Sleep Inn is going up along U.S. Highway 27, on property formerly owned by the State of Tennessee. The property has been vacant for more than 60 years, and city officials say it’s possible the land has never been built out.

‘ Scope: The construction of a new hotel comes as Dayton gains national attention for its bass fishing. Over the course of the last two years, the city has hosted several large tournaments, with participants lodging as far away as Spring City, Cleveland and Soddy-Daisy. Two unnamed restaurants are looking at locations near the hotel.

‘ Schedule: The hotel is scheduled to be finished in the first quarter of 2016.
