A five-run seventh inning propelled the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 10-3 road win over the Jackson Generals in their Southern League baseball game Tuesday night.
That evened Chattanooga’s second-half road record at 10-10.
In the seventh, Kennys Vargas tripled in Heiker Meneses to tie the game at 3, and Shannon Wilkerson, who earlier stole two bases and scored on a passed ball, followed with an RBI single. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, D.J. Hicks singled in one run and Adam Walker doubled in two for a 7-3 lead, giving Walker 86 RBIs for the season.
Vargas later added a solo home run as part of the Lookouts’ 13-hit attack and joined Hicks, Walker and Max Kepler with two hits each. D.J. Johnson, the third of four Chattanooga pitchers, earned the win with two shutout innings.
Game four of the five-game series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Greg Peavey (6-3, 4.41 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Stephen Landazuri (0-3, 4.25) scheduled for the Generals.
