Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers

Pedal to the metal

Boyd-Buchanan’s hopes of challenging for a region title – with potential for even higher aspirations – starts with a wealth of talent up front.

Not only do the Buccaneers return four of five starters along the offensive line, but they can rely on a pool of 17 players to rotate in the trenches.

Sophomore left tackle Will Watkins, who started at middle linebacker last year and will remain there on defense, is the only newcomer to a group that helped the Bucs win five straight games to end the regular season last year.

“I’ve never had the type of line depth we do now,” Bucs coach Grant Reynolds said. “We have 11 guys that we feel like can play without much of a drop-off at all. It is different because most kids now want to be backs or receivers, not linemen. But we have a group of guys who take a lot of pride in what they do up front.”
