Route ’15: Expectations are never low in Dalton, and this season is no exception. After it rolled through its sub-region in the program’s first year in Class AAAAA, a repeat spot in the region title game is likely. The 2015 Cats don’t have the star power of last year, but there are plenty of playmakers available.
Pedal to the metal
The Dalton coaching staff admits the 2014 season was a bit of an anomaly offensively. Blame it on Payton Veraldi. The strong-armed senior quarterback’s passing skills caused the Catamounts to alter their usual run-first game plan, and the results were terrific.
However, gone are Veraldi and his 2,223 yards and 30 touchdown passes. Also apparently gone is much of the downfield passing game.
