With the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s football season opener two weeks away, the intensity level was ratcheted up during the team’s second preseason scrimmage.
Saturday was more of an evaluation day for younger players eager to prove what they can do as they fight for positions on the depth chart. The Mocs ran 91 plays in different situations, mixing and matching position groups.
The offense scored four times, twice by true freshman running back Kyle Nalls. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder finished with 66 yards on seven carries, including a 44-yard touchdown run around left end.
Richardre Bagley had 45 yards on five carries, including a 23-yard run on the game’s first possession.
“It was refreshing,” Bagley said of the scrimmage. “Going through drills, individual workouts and skellies is always great, but there’s nothing like going against a defense – going live – and getting a taste of what’s going to happen on game day.”
