A Cleveland Middle School teacher has been placed on unpaid leave after he was charged with domestic assault, Cleveland City Schools announced Monday.

Jeffrey Robinson, 37, is accused of assaulting his 36-year-old girlfriend at her Cleveland home Sunday morning and leaving the woman with a "visible laceration and quarter-sized lump on her forehead," according to a report written by a deputy with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

Robinson was booked on $1,500 bond Sunday and scheduled to be arraigned Monday. His first hearing is set for Sept. 3.

He worked for Cleveland City Schools in the 2007-08 year and was re-employed by the system in 2011, according to a statement.
