A Sequatchie County, Tenn., native who escaped from an inmate work detail in Johnson City, Tenn., in September was taken into custody early Wednesday at a home on Branch Road just north of Dunlap, Tenn.
Jennifer Renee Cooley, 32, was found by Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office deputies hiding in a bedroom closet at the Branch Road home about 1 a.m., according to department spokesman Christopher Walker.
Cooley escaped from a work detail in Johnson City on Sept. 7 along with two other female inmates. The two other women were recaptured soon after the escape, but Cooley remained at large until early Wednesday.
Cooley was being held on charges of theft and manufacturing methamphetamine. Now, an escape charge and new charges in Sequatchie of resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia have been added to the existing charges against her.
Cooley is being held without bond at the Sequatchie County Justice Center.
