If only GOP had worked with Obama
This letter is responding to the Jan. 9 editorial on the Free Press page and conservative side.
It serves no purpose to continually work to divide our country over politics. It is unfortunate the Republicans stated their most important goal for President Obama’s first term was to ensure he wasn’t elected to a second term.
Their first goal should have been to work with our president to get our country out of the mess we were in.
But rather than diving into a discussion of Republicans versus Democrats, let’s just look at the facts regarding our economy: In 2009 when President Obama took office, the Dow Jones was 7,949; in December 2014, it was 17,830. Unemployment was 7.8 percent, and now is 5.8 percent. GDP growth was -5.4 percent, and now is 3.5 percent, and the deficit GDP was 9.8 percent, and now is 2.8 percent.
