UPDATE: Lockdown lifted at Lakeview Middle School

Lakeview Middle School in Rossville was put on a precautionary lockdown Wednesday, school officials confirmed.

Catoosa County Schools public information specialist Marissa Brower said the lockdown was triggered earlier this morning when a man in the surrounding neighborhood made threats against himself.

She said the school decided to go on a soft lockdown out of an “abundance of caution” after the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office alerted the school system to the situation. Everything inside the school proceeded normally, she said.

“It has absolutely nothing to do with the school, nobody has made any threats to the school,” Browers said.

A soft lockdown means that the outside doors to the school have been locked and students are not allowed to go outside. Parents were informed by text messages.
