Grundy County Schools’ maintenance supervisor was arrested Tuesday on indictments charging him with forgery and misconduct after an almost year-long Tennessee Bureau of Investigation story.
Ricky Meeks, 51, of Altamont, was booked Tuesday on one count of forgery, two counts of official misconduct and tampering with government documents.
Meeks turned himself in at the Grundy County Jail on Tuesday and was released on $15,000 bail.
The investigation began May 8, 2014, at the request of 12th Judicial District Attorney General Mike Taylor.
Agents on that date developed information that a witness saw Meeks change a company bid for work at a local elementary school so the company could win the bidding process, officials said.
When the allegations surfaced, Meeks was suspended from his job without pay.
