The Jackson County, Ala., Sheriff’s Office launched a new website in February so residents can find the latest information regarding the operations of the sheriff’s office, recent arrests and the location of area sex offenders.

The new website will serve as an information resource for the public and assist with community policing efforts, officials state in a release about the new site at www.JacksonCountySheriffAL.org.

The site features press releases, messages from Sheriff Chuck Phillips, pages describing services of each division of the office, as well as a link to submit crime tips by email.

“The safety of county residents is our primary concern at the Sheriff’s Office. We feel the sex offender Website map feature allows us to better-protect county residents by keeping them informed,” Sheriff Phillips states in the release.

Other features on the site include alert notifications which allow the public to sign up for alerts from the sheriff’s office by email or text regarding sex offender notifications, press releases, messages from the sheriff, most wanted updates, and jail roster updates.

Social media links allow the public to follow the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook, and most wanted listings allow the public to view photos and descriptions of wanted individuals.

“Posting information on the website improves the efficiency of the sheriff’s office by reducing the number of inquiry calls handled by our office,” Phillips states. “The new Website provides greater transparency for the Sheriff’s Office and encourages the public to take a more active role in community policing efforts.”
