Chattanooga home sales up, listings down

Chattanooga home sales in April rose a robust 11.4 percent above year-ago levels even as homes got more expensive to buy.

But the Greater Chattanooga Association of Realtors said the number of homes for sale dropped by nearly 28 percent as listings didn't keep pace with the improving market.

Chattanooga Realtors sold 701 homes last month, up from 629 in April 2014.

The median price of homes sold in April in Chattanooga was $153,500, or $11,500 more than a year ago.
