The Thanksgiving turkey may still be warm when most local retailers will launch their post-Thanksgiving sales to lure shoppers doing their Christmas shopping next week.

CBL & Associates Properties announced today that Hamilton Place and Northgate malls in Chattanooga and Walnut Square Mall in Dalton, Ga., will open their doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night to give shoppers a jumpstart on their holiday shopping.

According to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Americans are starting their holiday shopping even earlier this year.

"In order to accommodate the changing consumer we're opening our doors early to allow shoppers the opportunity to get a jump start on their Black Fridayshopping," said Sandra Heymann, CBL's regional marketing director for the malls.

CBL said individual store hours will vary, but most will be open late on Thanksgiving and early the next day.

Other major retailers also plan to be open on Thanksgiving. Wal-Mart Black Friday sales start at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving night while Kmart's Black Friday sales start at 7 p.m. Thanksgiving night. Old Navy will be open on Thanksgiving at 4 p.m., Best Buy will open its stores Thanksgiving night at 5 p.m., and Target and Sports Authority will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Dollar General will be open at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
