Ray Harlin, longtime executive and current chief financial officer at U.S. Xpress Enterprises, announced Friday that he'll be retiring at the end of the year after nearly 20 continuous years of service at the Chattanooga motor carrier firm.

Leading up to his retirement date, Harlin will help transition power and responsibilties to his successor, Eric Peterson. Peterson previously served as assistant vice president of accounting and finance at U.S. Xpress.

In addition, Eric Fuller has also been named president at U.S. Xpress. Fuller - son of U.S. Xpress Co-founder and CEO Max Fuller - is chief operating officer at the company, and will now serve as both COO and president.

U.S. Xpress is the second-largest privately-held truckload carrier in the country and this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding.
