Chattanooga dancer and actor Damon Gillespie can add an Emmy-winning video to his resume.
“Girl, You Don’t Need Makeup,” which stars comedian Amy Schumer, won Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for co-writers Kyle Dunnigan and Jim Roach at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held Saturday, Sept. 12, in Los Angeles. The award ceremony was taped to air tonight on FXX at 8 p.m. (Comcast channel 728, EPB channel 79) and repeated at 10:30 p.m.
In the comic sketch, Gillespie is one of four guys singing to Schumer in a parody of boy band One Direction. They tell her she’s beautiful without makeup, but when she removes hers they change their tune. The video aired on Schumer’s Comedy Central show, “Inside Amy Schumer,” and has since had more than 3.9 million hits on YouTube.
