Drug sentence cuts disappoint

Thank you, as always, for sharing what’s going on in the politics of our nation. Typically, the trend of the president’s approval rating begins high and slowly declines throughout his presidency. Then, right before the end, it begins to rise again. This has been the case with nearly every president, and my personal approval of Obama has done the same. That is, until his commuting of the sentences of 61 people serving time for drug offenses, which made it decline once again. While I, along with most Americans, are all about second chances, it’s unlikely these 61 inmates got a life sentence from their first offense.

Additionally, while Obama is busy promoting increased screening to purchase firearms (which I have no problem with), he’s simultaneously releasing several criminals with firearm charges. How is this safe for Americans? While it’s hard to decipher his reasoning, simply stating he believes in second chances isn’t going to cut it. I believe I stand with many other Americans when I say I’m very disappointed in the president’s decision.

Keep up the good work. I appreciate the story.
