Bibliophiles and art aficionados alike can enjoy the works of Chattanooga resident Virginia Skipper at the Civic Arts League Exhibit at the Collegedale Public Library now through April 30.
Skipper, who paints both traditional and contemporary nature scenes, focuses frequently on flowers, as she has throughout her 50-year painting career, said Collegedale Library Director Joanne Stanfield.
Although roses are present most frequently in Skipper’s paintings, it is the irises that are Stanfield’s personal favorites.
“They’re just beautiful,” she said of the paintings. “A lot of them are just striking because of their size.”
Those interested in viewing Skipper’s work can do so at the library’s location, 9318 Apison Pike, just next to Collegedale City Hall.
