After a listless practice Saturday by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team, coaches were looking for something that might invigorate the Mocs.

Monday they added intensity.

Wednesday was all about change.

The change was to the format. During UTC practices, players typically run from one drill to the next when the buzzer sounds. On Wednesday, if head coach Russ Huesman blew his whistle three times, the Mocs immediately went into a situational drill – maybe a two-minute drill, a goal-line situation, or a third- or fourth-down scenario.

That provided a sense of the unexpected, with some players saying it was exactly what was needed as the team reached practice No. 10 of the spring season.
