Woman attacked, man shot in Chattanooga as violence continues

"I just wish everything would stop."

photo Officers detain a suspect vehicle and suspect on Bird Street after a stabbing at East Lake Courts on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

A man was shot late Tuesday and a pregnant woman was cut Wednesday afternoon as a week of violence continued in Chattanooga.

At least one of the incidents involved gang members, according to police, but it’s unclear whether either incident is directly related to the ongoing gang war that has resulted in at least six shootings since Saturday, including the killing of a 17-year-old man and the wounding of two pregnant women.

On Wednesday, a pregnant woman was cut around 3 p.m. in the East Lake Courts housing development in what appeared to be a domestic situation, according to police.

The victim’s sister, Quantearra Colvin, said the woman was stabbed by her boyfriend. The woman’s injury was minor, police said.
