Chattanooga Lookouts starter David Hurlbut exited Friday night’s game against Montgomery with a four-run cushion that looked like his best outing since the opening week of the season would also produce his first win since that April 9 game.

He got there, but the bullpen turned the end of the journey into more of an adventure.

The Lookouts held on for a 5-4 win at AT&T Field after the Biscuits loaded the bases in the seventh, eighth and ninth but produced just one run in each of those innings. With runners on second and third and two outs in the ninth, J.T. Chargois ended the final rally by striking out Jake DePew to earn a save.

Hurlbut (2-1) went six innings, his longest outing of the season. He gave up an earned run on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

Chattanooga’s Mitch Garver went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI, and Leonardo Reginatto drove in two runs during a 2-for-4 performance. Levi Michael joined those two in collecting an RBI with two outs.

Montgomery struck for a run in the second when Juniel Querecuto’s line-drive single to center brought home Willy Adames, but the Lookouts answered with three runs in the bottom half, when Garver led off with a double.

The Lookouts will take aim at their fourth win in five games when they face the Biscuits at 7:15 tonight at AT&T.
