GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The third girl injured in a fall from a Ferris wheel at an eastern Tennessee county fair has been released from a hospital.
News outlets report 6-year-old Briley Reynolds was released Wednesday. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and had been hospitalized since the fall Aug. 8.
Briley’s 10-year-old sister, Kayla Reynolds, and a 16-year-old who hasn’t been publicly named were released from the hospital last week.
Briley’s mother, Kimmee Reynolds, thanked supporters and said the family has a “long way to go.”
The girls fell 30 to 45 feet from the ride at the Greene County Fair. Inspectors have blamed the overturned carriage on worn-out rivet fasteners that allowed the facing to become loose and get lodged in the frame of the wheel.
