Knowing that it’s often hard for kids to get out to purchase gifts for parents and siblings without spoiling the surprise, Bachman Community Center is hosting its first holiday shopping event for children, The Give Shop.
“We loved the thought of giving kids a chance to shop for presents and further the idea that it is better to give than to receive,” said Katy Murphy, marketing and programming manager for Bachman. “I think it’s a unique and great opportunity for kids to be on the flip-side of the holiday.”
On Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon., the Bachman Bargains thrift store on-site will have a special store set up for children with small gifts items for them to choose from, assisted by volunteers dressed as elves. Kids may pick any two gifts from the shop for $5.
“Volunteers will also help them wrap the gifts, so they walk out the door with gifts that are ready to give,” said Murphy.
Attendees must register prior to the event through the link provided at facebook.com/BachmanCommunityCenter/.
