A man who fled homicide charges in Sequatchie County has been arrested in Blount County, according to the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office.

John David Altenhoff was wanted for felony failure to appear in a voluntary manslaughter case, the release stated. He is waiting to be transferred back to Sequatchie County.

Authorities said Alvin James Sandell, 22, was fatally stabbed in February 2015 at McGlothen Lanes East. Witnesses said he and Altenhoff were arguing and Altenhoff stabbed him in the chest. Sandell died at the scene.

Altenhoff and Melody Danielle Shipwash fled and were tracked to a Soddy-Daisy home, where they were arrested, according to Times Free Press archives.

The sheriff’s office release didn’t say when Altenhoff failed to show up for court.
