Developer Jim Pratt got the nod last Monday from local planners to rezone 15 acres in Hixson at 5424 Cassandra Smith Road for a 50-home subdivision despite neighbors’ concerns the development will bring additional traffic to an already busy road.
If it’s any consolation, that’s fewer homes Pratt could build under current zoning, said Ethan Collier, chairman of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.
“I know it’s frustrating,” Collier told neighbors concerned about traffic. “What Mr. Pratt is asking to do, Mr. Pratt can do right now.”
Martha Henry was one of the neighbors opposed to the development.
“It is a problem to have any homes built on Cassandra Smith right now. We’re overrun,” she said.
