The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga secured a piece of the Southern Conference wrestling championship Friday.

Wrestling in Charleston, S.C., the Mocs took nine of 10 matches in a 34-3 victory at The Citadel.

Coach Heath Eslinger, somewhat reserved with his comments about sharing the SoCon’s regular-season title with Appalachian State and Gardner-Webb, was enthusiastic about his team’s individual performances Friday. That included their one loss, a 3-1 setback for 157-pound Kamaal Shakur.

“It’s good,” he said. “No one likes sharing, but out of all the years there has been a SoCon (regular-season title) we’ve done a good job of being dominant, and sharing is better than not getting anything.”
