Allen Jones wears many hats: landscape architect, planning commission regular, local city commissioner and up-and-comer.
A native of the Peach State, Jones holds a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and is now an associate member at downtown Chattanooga-based ASA Engineering, where he specializes in low-impact development and green infrastructure.
Jones has been an architect for nine years, and has worked in stints in Raleigh, North Carolina, and for the City of Chattanooga. He is coming off a term as president of the Tennessee chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Recently, Jones has also become an advocate for new Chattanooga-area developments at the planning level. In 2015, he represented eight rezoning requests before city and county leaders, and all eight were approved.
Although he’s a transplant to the area, Jones embraces the “Chattanooga way,” which he believes always means working with community members and neighbors when planning and building projects in the city.
Jones’ belief in the public process also stems from his personal political roles. He serves as a city commissioner in nearby Dunlap, Tennessee, where he and his wife own a family farm and live with their children. Jones is also serving a term as secretary for the Dunlap Lions Club.
