Holidays story so much nonsense
I was amazed to see your “Happy Holidays” story above the fold on page one Christmas Eve. To quote John McEnroe, “You cannot be serious?” This is front-page news?
No one is oppressing these people or impeding their expression of religion. They can go to church when and where they like, build a crche on their front lawn, wear crosses around their necks and say “Merry Christmas” to everyone. Ironically, they are the ones trying to impose a form of orthodoxy on the rest of us.
Your religion is under attack when storm troopers come in the night and put you on a train to a concentration camp. Your religion is under attack when your mosque is fire-bombed.
To take offense at a generic, all-inclusive greeting of joy and friendship like “Happy Holidays,” you would have to be suffering from paranoid delusions of persecution.
