Some jittery area high-schoolers will have to put off taking the SAT college admission test that was scheduled nationwide for Saturday.

Because of potential hazardous weather, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and McCallie are postponing administering the tests on their sites until Feb. 20.

Tonya Botts, manager of UTC’s Testing Center, said nearly 40 students were scheduled to take the test there.

Jim Tanner, a public information officer for McCallie, said he wasn’t sure how many were set to take the test there.

The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that helps colleges make decisions on student readiness. Most students take the SAT at least once during their junior or senior year. Almost all colleges and universities use the SAT to make admission decisions.

Although the SAT is shifting to a new format in March, students who were scheduled to take the test Saturday will still use the old format on the retake date, Botts said.

Baylor also adminsters the tests, but it’s next testing date was in March, according a test center site.
