Ringgold Mayor Nick Millwood called a special meeting recently to discuss “conflicting things” in the city charter.

The City Council unanimously approved several changes in order to remove the conflicting information. However, the changes will not officially take effect until the state Legislature approves them during upcoming legislative sessions.

The changes will allow compensation to be reviewed for biannual cost of living adjustments, and also for reimbursement.

They also cleared up what constitutes a quorum, the set number and members of the council who must be present for business to be conducted. Four council members, excluding the chairman, will now be the standard.
